Over the years, Google has grown to become one of the largest and most valuable listed companies on the planet. However, Google shares have two different prices. Look for a Google stock price and you will find both GOOG and GOOGL price tickers. This is because the owners of Google, or Alphabet as it is now known, decided to split the Google shares into two classes: A and C, representing voting and non-voting shares respectively. Alphabet Inc Class C stock is the non-voting stock. Check out the Alphabet stock price, and you will see that it generally trades around 15% cheaper than A-shares. This reflects that Alphabet Inc Class C stock brings with it no voting rights. Fifteen per cent is the price the market is prepared to pay for a shareholder vote.
