We saw mixed trading results in Asian markets today with Japan stocks down while Hong Kong shares trading higher at midday.
In Hong Kong, stocks rose keeping the Hang Seng at its highest level in three weeks. This is on the back of speculation China may ease monetary policy tightening and amid signs a U.S economic recovery is strengthening.
China Resources Land Ltd, a state controlled developer, climbed 3% after Goldman Sachs Group said recent economic data suggests policy tightening in China may moderate. Bank of Communications gained 2.2% after saying full-year profit rose 30% last year.
In Japan, Hitachi declined 1.1% as the company said it has not decided when to restart a plant in Ibaraki prefecture. Toyota Motor Corp, the world’s No. 1 carmaker, rose 0.9% after a US report showed companies added more workers this month.
