Kenny: Irish bailout to end in December

Ireland’s bailout will come to an end in December.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has revealed that the Irish bailout will come to an end in November.

He told the Fine Gael party conference in Limerick that the economic emergency in Ireland will be over, although he warned "fragile times" lay ahead in the future.

Ireland recently came out of recession, prompting Mr Kenny to make the announcement regarding the end of the bailout.

"Tonight I can confirm that Ireland is on track to exit the European Union/International Monetary Fund bailout on December 15th. And we won't go back," he said.

Mr Kenny conceded that while there remains a long way to go to get the Irish economy back on track, the days of bailouts will be over.

The release of figures from the Central Statistics Office last month showed Ireland has come out of recession, with the country's economy growing by 0.4 per cent in the second quarter of the year.
