Asian stocks rise as Chinese insurers lead gains

<p>Asian shares climbed on upbeat US data and as Chinese insurers led gains.</p>

Asian stocks rose today (November 26th) as Chinese insurers led gains. China Life Insurance Co. Ltd. was up 7.2 per cent and Ping An Insurance Co. was up 3.7 per cent.

Chinese stocks rose to new highs as the central bank's interest rate cut on Friday continued to lift sentiment.

Shares were also mostly higher following upbeat US economic growth data and reports that Germany had dodged recession.

US gross domestic product was revised up to 3.9 per cent from 3.5 percent in the July-September period, it emerged yesterday.

The Shanghai Composite rose 1.4 per cent to 2604.35, while the Hang Seng Index finished up 1.1 per cent at 24111.98. Tokyo dipped 0.14 per cent to 17,383.58 but Sydney rallied 1.15 per cent.
